WHAT IS FOREX TRADING?

OUR MODERN WORLD

Today, the world’s forex markets trade around $5 trillion a day. As the global reach of the internet expands, opportunities have opened up for forex brokers to offer clients the ability to open up forex trading accounts and trade the forex markets from a desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile phone. Unlike stock exchanges which are open on average 6 to 8 hours a day, with a defined daily window from an opening bell to a closing bell within which you can trade shares – forex markets are  open to trade 24 hours a day from Monday morning in Asia to Friday evening in USA with very few closed days in a calendar year.

WHY IS FOREX TRADING SO POPULAR?

Forex trading is enormously popular with beginner and professional traders because of the motivation to profit!     Quite simply, without the motivation or expectation of profit, there would be little to no reason for any person to enter the forex trading environment.

But there are other valid reasons underneath the profit motive for new traders to enter and learn the forex markets each day and they are:

  • Time Flexibility – Forex trading can be performed part time, several times a day, or once a day, once a week, once a month etc to suit each individual forex traders lifestyle. Remember, less is not necessarily lesser profits. Spending 24 hours a day 5 days a week in a gym isn’t necessarily going to get the best results.
  • Ease of Access – To a computer, tablet, laptop or mobile phone connected to a brokers platform.
  • Low Barriers to Entry – To open a forex trading account you will need to be of a specific minimum age and provide a form of identification to open a forex trading account (countries may differ)
  • No Education Barriers – A college education or specific diploma is not required to conduct your own forex trading.

BUT DOESN’T FOREX TRADING INVOLVE RISK?

Yes, forex trading does involve risk. Any speculation on a future event involves the element of risk. If you place a sum of money on the expectation of an unknown outcome in the future you have financial risk. Successful forex trading is all about speculation on probable reward while at the same time managing the financial risk.

SO WHY CAN’T I JUST JUMP IN AND START TRADING?

Think of it like this – If you have never traded forex before, imagine climbing in the drivers seat of a car for the very first time and entering a busy street. Without knowledge of the levers, gears, brakes, clutch, accelerator, steering wheel etc, and without knowing what the dashboard instruments mean, and what the road signs mean, and what speed is safe, and what hazards to be aware of – you probably won`t get very far with your driving. That is an understatement. You will crash!

RELAX – BE AWARE FIRST

  • Forex trading is not a get rich quick scheme.
  • Forex trading is not an exact science.
  • Forex trading needs to be learned patiently.
  • Forex trading requires knowledge and practice.
  • Forex trading requires your commitment.
